Music by Charles Wood

Saturday 29th October 2016

7.00 pm

Halifax Minster

Causeway, Halifax HX1 1QL

This recital marks the 150th anniversary of Charles Wood's birth. Born and raised in Armagh, Wood became one of a number of composers responsible for the great flowering of British Church Music in the Edwardian period showcased in this recital. He is probably best known for his arrangements of many Christmas Carols, notably Ding Dong merrily on high.

The recital, which will incorprate an interval, will also feature solos on the magnificent Minster organ by David Houlder of music by Wood's teacher Stanford
